Embodied Imagination

Mime Technique and Improv Workshop

Starts Oct 25
60 Canadian dollars
Artspace, 100 Arthur St. Winnipeg, MB, R3B 1H3

Available spots

Description

Led by Chris Friesen and guest teacher Ardyth Johnson, this full day workshop will explore fundamental mime techniques and apply them to improvisation. Imagination is the core of acting.  Whether in musical theatre, Shakespeare, improv, or even film, an actor will often have to make the invisible, visible; to see/hear/taste/touch/smell what isn't there and communicate it to an audience.   In this workshop, you will gain an experience of embodied imagination, through exercises designed to increase physical awareness and help you achieve heightened communication with your body.  You will apply these techniques to improvisation, and discover how to interact with an imaginary environment.  Through this workshop you will gain skills which you can apply to any theatrical discipline. This workshop is perfect for actors or improvisors wanting to learn more about mime, but also for anyone who wants an introduction to improv or who simply wants to become more comfortable with their body.
